Cylindrical milling cutter is generally made of high-speed steel as a whole, the spiral cutting edge is distributed on the surface of the cylinder, there is no secondary cutting edge, the spiral cutting teeth are gradually cut and out of the workpiece, so the cutting process is more stable. Mainly used for horizontal milling machine processing width less than the length of the milling cutter narrow plane.
According to the different processing requirements, the cylindrical milling cutter has coarse teeth and fine teeth, the chip holding groove of the coarse teeth is large, which is used for roughing, and the fine teeth are used for finishing. When the outer diameter of the milling cutter is large, it is often made of inserted teeth.
End milling cutter is the most commonly used milling cutter in CNC milling, its structure, the cutting edge on the cylindrical surface is the main cutting edge, the end face is distributed with a secondary cutting edge, the main cutting edge is generally spiral teeth, which can increase the smoothness of cutting and improve processing accuracy. Because there is no cutting edge at the center of the end face of the ordinary end mill, the end mill can not be fed axially when working, and the end edge is mainly used to process the bottom plane perpendicular to the side.
In order to improve the chip crimp, increase the chip space and prevent chip clogging, the number of teeth is relatively small, and the radius of the chip sink is larger. Generally, the number of teeth of coarse end milling cutter Z=3~4, the number of teeth of fine end milling cutter Z=5~8, the shell structure Z=10~20, the radius of the chip sink r=2~5mm. When the diameter of the end mill is large, it can also be made of unequal pitch structure to enhance the resistance and make the cutting process smooth.
